The Metropole Galleries have moved forward in the 21st Century with a dynamic policy of inviting artists and curators to engage directly with our unique space. Outstanding artists are invited to create ambitious, thought-provoking exhibitions and projects. Recent exhibitions have featured Tacita Dean, Phyllida Barlow, Bob and Roberta Smith, Mark Titchner and Michael Landy.

We encourage wide public involvement in the programme through activities that encourage debate and participation.

Batchelor has made a dazzling kaleidoscope of multi-coloured spheres appearing to free-float in space. The sculpture is created from thousands of cheap, brightly coloured plastic sunglasses, bought in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
